Our Beliefs
The following are the foundational beliefs of Richmond Road Baptist Church, founded entirely upon the King James Version of the Holy Bible — our only and all-sufficient rule of faith and practice.
The Holy Bible
The HOLY BIBLE is our rule of faith and practice, and we preach and study all 66 books of the Bible. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God without error as originally written.
The Baptist Church
We believe that our church is a Baptist Church. It is not Protestant, unionistic, nor interdenominational. It is separate from all isms of all kinds.
Creation
We believe in the Genesis account of creation, and that God created Heaven and Earth in six literal 24-hour days.
Gender and Marriage
We believe that God created only two genders — male and female — and that marriage is only between a male and a female.
The Fall of Man & Salvation
We believe in the fall of man, and in total depravity, and that all are lost unless born again. We believe that we are saved by grace through faith and without works on the part of man. We believe that repentance and faith are inseparable graces and that all who do not repent and believe are lost.
The Lord's Church
We believe that Jesus Christ organized a church while here on earth during His personal ministry (before Pentecost) and that He gave that church a commission:
The Two Church Ordinances
We believe that there are two church ordinances — baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is the immersion of a saved person in water upon the authority of a true Baptist church. The Lord's Supper is restricted to each local church and the elements are unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine.
The Local, Visible Church
We believe that the church is local and visible, and that she has the Bible for her one and only and all sufficient rule of faith and practice. The decisions of a church are final, and no other church or organization of any kind has any right to interfere with her decisions. We do NOT believe that there is any such thing as an "invisible" or "universal" church.
Missions & Finance
We believe that the Scriptural way to finance the Lord's work is by tithes and offerings. We believe that all churches should be missionary, and that each church can give her mission money where she chooses without interference. We do NOT believe that mission money should be used to support unsound missionaries, unsound seminaries, or unsound colleges.
The Ministry
We believe that God calls only men to preach and that the ordaining of preachers is to be done by a local church and not by a mission or association.
The Sovereignty of God
We believe in the Sovereignty of God, in foreknowledge, predestination, election, effectual calling, justification and glorification — and that whosoever will may come — and that these do not contradict each other.
Last Things
We believe in the premillennial second coming of Christ, and that Heaven is a real place and that Hell is a real place.
Eternal Security
We believe in the eternal security of the believer, and that after one is saved that he or she should be scripturally baptized and be a member of a sound New Testament Baptist Church.
Bible Reading
All Scripture on this website and in our services is from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. We encourage every member and visitor to maintain a consistent, daily practice of reading and studying God's Word.

The Trail of Blood
Following the Christians Down Through the Centuries…
or, The History of Baptist Churches From the Time of Christ, Their Founder, to the Present Day
by J. M. Carroll
This little book traces the history of faithful Baptist believers from the time of Christ through centuries of persecution, carefully tracking the true New Testament church through every age. Dr. Carroll's work shows that churches bearing the "marks" of New Testament churches have existed continuously from the apostolic era to the present day.
